So many moving moments, tears came readily
Valerie Hutchinson (Centenarian), Norah Moore's daughter.
The Virtual Exhibition
100 Canberra presented 100 portraits of centenarians created by teenagers from across every state and territory in the country. These portraits were selected from 465 works made through The Centenarian Portrait Project by Teenagers between 2017 – 2023. Designed to use art to forge connections between generations and break down age discrimination, The Centenarian Portrait Project by Teenagers included 930 participants, presented 8 exhibitions and was a transformational experience for many. Along the way outstanding art was created, some of which you can enjoy here today. The stories shared and the relationships formed were memorable, meaningful and at times profound.
100 Canberra; The National Exhibition is a celebration of ageing in Australia that brings older people to the forefront. The exhibition celebrates our most senior citizens; shares important stories and prompts you - our gallery goers to create and deepen intergenerational connections of your own.
The artworks were borrowed back from each centenarian subject or their family for the event.
We warmly welcome you to this virtual exhibition, one very close to our hearts.
